OVERVIEW
The island of Phu Quoc is largely a real postcard idyll. There are numerous dream beaches with turquoise water and tall palm trees that provide a wonderful backdrop for the most beautiful sunsets in East Asia. The island of Phu Quoc is characterized by a tropical jungle landscape with lush vegetation that appears largely deserted and completely untouched. The main town on the island is the town of Duong Dong. Every night there is a night market worth seeing, which focuses on an impressively diverse range of fish and seafood.
The most beautiful beaches include the seemingly endless, very busy Long Beach and the fine sandy and wide Bai Sao, both of which are located in the south of the island. On Lang Beach, a few kilometers north of Duong Dong, is significantly less frequented. For more active holiday, Phu Quoc is also a great destination for diving and golf.
There are a lot of charming hotels or resorts near or along the beaches available for you to choose. High quality black pepper is grown on Phu Quoc. There are numerous pepper farms that offer interesting tours of their plantations. A spectacular carble car runs between Phu Quoc and the neighboring island of Hòn Thơm is longest non-stop three-way cable car in the world. An interesting testimony to contemporary history is the museum in the “Coconut Tree Prison”. The prison building was once built by the French colonial administration and used by the American army during the Vietnam War.
