Trek through the hill tribe of Xa Linh, walk along the small villages and take a bike ride through the Mai Chau Valley. Day 1
MAI CHAU - VILLAGES TO VILLAGES
In the morning, spend around an hour to drive to Xa Linh, then stop for a light trek of 2-4 hours in Pa Co which is home of the Green Hmong hill tribe. Hmong people are especially present in Southern China, Vietnam and Laos. There are different groups of Hmong, such as the Green Hmong but also the Black, Striped or White Hmong and they all have their own customs and traditions. On the way, discover their colorful and unique culture and walk along peach and plum trees where flowers will be blossoming during spring season. Picnic Lunch is served on the road. In the afternoon, enjoy a hiking through to peaceful Thai villages to learn about the daily life of local people before transferring back to the accommodation. This evening enjoys a traditional Thai performance of music and dance. The Thai ethnic group has inhabited this area for centuries and much of their lifestyle and traditions have remained unchanged over the years. Depart Hanoi early morning for a 4 hour drive to Mai Chau located 150 km southwest of Hanoi. Just an hour beyond Hanoi, after Hoa Binh Town, the road weaves through mountains, fertile valleys, and traditional villages. Arrive in the picturesque Mai Chau Valley surrounded by spectacular karst rock formations and rice paddies. Arrive in the picturesque Mai Chau Valley – home of Thai ethnic people - Over 54 different ethnic minorities, the Thai is one of the largest in Vietnam with their own Sanskrit-style writing system, widely used in many written works on history, traditions, customary laws, and literature.
